NEWS (15.09.09): After America is now waiting Australia!
The athletes of the RC ENJO Vorarlberg share again with the crossing of Australia, a milestone in disabled sport.
Four years after taking part in Race Across America the next great adventure is waiting on the wheelchair athletes of the RC ENJO Vorarlberg. 4000 kilometres across Australia in just seven days is the goal that has set itself Thomas Bechter, Philipp Bonadimann, Jurgen Egle and Wolfgang Wimmer.
This applies also to overcome 12 000 vertical meters. The start is planed on 16.th October 2010.
Everything just under Race Across America, recognizes an inattentive viewer at first glance. The devil indeed is in the detail, the challenge is much larger than that four years ago. While in the U.S. six athletes strained the hand bike pedals, this time there are only four.
Instead of the 83 kilometers in the U.S., there are 143 km daily in Australia for each athlete.
And instead of the 20.8 kilometers, the U.S. team has gone an hour, This time, 23.8 km per hour are achieved when the time limit should be followed by seven days.
Immense benefits
What has not changed much, the logistics of the team which although staffed slimmer than that of the RAAM, most of the U.S. experience bring to Australia, which is an immense advantage. And also the position of the Australian headquarters of RCV main sponsor ENJO launch site in Perth, turned out to be already in the planning as a big advantage.
Johannes Engl expected in the fifth continent corresponding interest in the media, which is designed particularly with ENJO Australia. With Schenker Logistic there was also a transportation professional founded.
Proud on the athletes
Governor Herbert Sausgruber and Sports Provincial Siegi Stemer do not sparing with praise for the RC Vorarlberg: "The athletes of the club are very successful. I'll go fix on the assumption that they reach their set goal to cross Australia in seven days, is the supreme ruler secure. Stemer praised the teamwork, "it worked in the Race Across America at best, also it will work in Australia again. And before we can expect success in the Paralympics in Vancouver, where Bonadimann and Egle, two of the Australia-driver will start in. Everything together is a tremendous achievement! "
